Literature Text

An amazing moment has passed me by,
Blinking at my peril and wondering why,
The glee in me as moved on swift,
A shimmering mirage of an unwrapped gift.
An age of doubt and the sounds of tomorrow,
Beckon to me with bliss laced sorrow,
To them I run with a pace unknown,
To them it is fun to watch me so.

I sleep with fear of a bygone day,
Let the shadows talk themselves today,
Shivering at the thought of a night so blue,
That heals me with sharp sorrows few,
That keeps me miserable each heartbeat,
That weeps a little if I want to meet,
What night will give me a sleep so deep?
No morn shall fade away its hue.

Love has found my friends and foes,
It’s all that remains after every gloom,
I stand at a crossroad not sure which way,
My feet will tread to a flower’s bloom.
A faceless hand taps me to assure,
To help me through another war,
To guide me and my shadow’s path
Away from a battle’s aftermath.

Oh! How shall I word sightless grief?
What poem shall someday release this thief?
Oh hides in me and steals my might,
I know.
I will live through another moonless night.
A tribute to everyone who sleeps without their moon tonight. You will survive this night too.
